The North West Highlands are one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland. We were up there for 4 days staying in a wee cottage in Lochinver. The first evening we headed up the coast to Stoer Lighthouse. One of 200 lighthouses around the Scottish coast it sits overlooking the Atlantic and on a clear day you can see over to Lewis. Further around the peninsula sits the Old Man of Stoer. It's about an hour and a half walk from the lighthouse and for the most part there is no defined path. Make sure you have wellies of a good pain of walking boots, its fairly soggy. We arrived just as the sun was setting, and after a dismal day consisting of rain and lots of cloud it was a welcome sight.
